Elements Watersports has introduced hundreds of young people to Watersports, and many of them continue to Sail, Windsurf or Paddleboard with us or have joined the race circuit!
Elements Watersports professionally qualified staff have been providing Sailing and Windsurfing programs for kids and school groups for the past 20 years and we are a recognised training centre delivering courses for Yachting NZ, Windsurfing NZ and the RYA.
All our safety and operations procedures are checked by our acreditors on an annual basis and we pride ourselves on delivering you the highest standard of equipment and tuition from professionally qualified instructors, all the time, every time.
Courses and Tuition
Choose to Learn to Sail or Learn to Windsurf with us either during our Term 4 & Term 1 After School Courses or during our School Holiday Program. If complete courses don’t fit your busy schedule, then you can book Single lessons with us to discover, learn or improve your Sailing or Windsurfing skills during the weekends too. Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Sailing and Windsurfing Courses and Single lessons are available for kids aged 8 to 18.
Our Summer School Holiday program provides a multitude of fun watersports activities, Learn to Sail, Learn to Windsurf or Learn to Kayak courses, Paddleboarding sessions and exciting destination sails.

Learn to Windsurf
Start Windsurfing Courses
This Windsurfing course is the perfect introduction for juniors (8 to 18 year olds) wanting to Learn to Windsurf.
Our Beginners course will give you a great introduction to the exciting sport of Windsurfing. The first part of your very first lesson will be on a land based simulator where we will take you through the basics and then we quickly move onto the water where you will be up and Windsurfing along on your very first lesson! During your course you will learn how to sail across the wind, you will learn how to tack and how to launch, set up and look after your kit. All our kids’ courses include a variety of games and fun exercises that help you gain the skills you need to be a confident windsurfer in light winds.
Each session you will receive photos of your time with us to show your family and friends along with a debrief from our master instructors.
We provide all your equipment and all your Watersports clothing and fantastic instructors so all you need is a smile and a give it a go attitude to learn this great sport

- Date: Wednesdays for 8 weeks
- Time: 4pm till 630pm

Windsurf Improver
Intermediate Windsurfer
Our Windsurf improver’s course builds upon the skills you learnt on your Start Windsurfing course. You will progress quickly over the next 8 weeks and once you’ve completed this course you will be skilful and confident enough to Windsurf in more challenging conditions and competent enough to hire equipment with Elements Watersports or transit to the racing circuit.
During this course you will Re-cap and develop existing Windsurfing skills, Start to learn techniques such as using the harness, beach starts, faster tacking and gybing techniques and cover all the necessary theory and safety considerations. We will also introduce those that are keen to start racing to the youth racing fleet.
Windsurf Improver Course Term 4 & Term 1

Learning to Sail
Dinghy sailing is one of the most popular sporting activities in NZ with a variety of opportunities to Sail socially with family or friends or head out onto the race course with your local sailing club. Elements modern designed fleet of Topaz Sailing Dinghies and professionally qualified instructors ensure that you learn quickly in a safe and fun environment and our Youth Learn to Sail programs are specifically designed with fun games and regattas so that Elements Active youth Enjoy learning this exciting and thrilling sport.
Start Dinghy Sailing - Yachting NZ level 1
This course gives our Beginner sailors a great introduction to the exciting sport of sailing.
You will learn how to sail across the wind, how to tack and gybe, as well as negotiate a simple course. We will also spend some time ashore covering rigging and taking care of your boat along with some fun theory and games
Each session you will receive photos of your time with us to show your family and friends along with a debrief from your master instructors. And you get to show off your new found skills at our Learn to sail students and family regatta day.
We provide you with all your equipment and all your Watersports clothing and fantastic instructors so all you need is a hat and some sunscreen and a have a go attitude to learn this exciting sport.

Improver Dinghy Sailing - Yachting NZ level 2
Elements Watersports Dinghy Sailing improver course builds on the skills you learnt on our Start Dinghy Sailing course. You will progress quickly over these sessions with us, you will become skilful and confident enough to sail on your own in more challenging conditions, we will introduce you to a variety of dinghy’s, sailing with a gib and spinnaker and once you complete this course you will be competent enough to hire Elements Topaz Dinghies and sail for fun with friends and family. Or if you wish you will be ready to join your local sailing clubs race fleet.
During our improver course you will Re-cap and develop existing sailing skills, Start to learn more advanced sailing techniques and cover all the necessary theory and safety considerations you need to be a great intermediate sailor.

Paddleboarding
Stand up Paddleboarding is one of the world’s fastest growing and fun Watersports and it isn’t hard to learn, And you don’t have to be a surfer, windsurfer or sailor to enjoy it.
A Paddleboard lesson on flat water with Elements Watersports at Kulim Park ensures you learn all the basics you need to be safe and have fun on the water with your friends or family. It’s quick and easy to learn and we have a range of boards to help build your confidence so you can come back and hire our paddleboards, take the next step and get a lesson in the surf or include it in your Birthday Party activities.
All our instructors are fully qualified and all your equipment and clothing is supplied with your lesson or rental.

- Custom Lessons 1 hour $35 Enjoy some tuition on flat water or in the surf

Elements School Holiday Programs at Kulim Park cater for children aged from 8 to 16 years.
You can book in for a Single fun and exciting multi watersport day, or join one of our Learn to Sail or Learn to Windsurf courses, or a Learn to Kayak course.
Multi Activity Single Days
During a multi Activity Watersports day you will be introduced to the basic skills of Windsurfing, Sailing and Paddleboarding and be taught by our professionally qualified staff in a fun and safe environment. Lots of exciting games, regattas and sail aways are also included in these great days. Once you’ve had a taste of these sports you can choose to join a complete ‘learn to’’ course with us and work towards gaining your first certificate.
Our single multi watersport days are also great for any of our Learn to Sail or Windsurf students who have completed a beginner or intermediate course with us, to practise and enjoy their new found skills and introduce their friends to some cool Watersports fun.

All Sailors and Windsurfers who have already completed a Learn to Sail or Learn to Windsurf course can join us on any day of the week and enjoy recreational sailing and windsurfing, practising your skills, whilst also getting hints and tips from our Instructors to master new tecniques or freestyle moves And join in our fun Adventure sail aways too.

Things you Need to Know
Payment can be made by MasterCard or Visa or by direct credit to our bank account.
We will provide Wetsuits and buoyancy aids, great equipment and fantastic staff.
You will need to provide - A bag of goodies just the same as if you were off to the beach.
- Togs and a Beach Towel
- Sunscreen and a Hat
- Shoes to wear in the water
- Warm clothes to put on after you get out of the water

Elements Watersports Birthday Parties at Kulim Park are great fun and a unique way for kids to enjoy a few hours messing around on the water with friends.
We can provide you with a variety of options for kid’s parties, from Learning to Sail and Learning to Windsurf Experience Sessions Or a Harbour Sail, or simply messing about on Paddleboards for a fun packed party and all under the watchful eye of our team of qualified instructors, so you can relax and be assured of your kids safety at all times.
All equipment and Watersports clothing and safety cover is included in our costs.
Kulim Park also provides a great location to finish off your party with a bbq, and these are available in the park alongside our centre free of charge.
We can cater for kids from 8 years up.
Parental consent is required and we will provide you with the necessary booking forms to ensure we have all the information about your children to ensure their safety whilst they are with us.

Try Dinghy Sailing - With a qualified instructor onboard your boat you can choose to take the helm and learn a little or just sit back and relax for a few hours.
Choose a Destination Sail for either a half day or a full day,Sail across the harbour and onto Matakana Island. Stop here for a picnic and swim before heading back to Kulim Park.
