Hi Jules,  It is much fun Learning to Sail with Elements. I guess that many children learn sailing from their Dad – that is what I am noticing in my circle of friends. In regard to women I see that they go out sailing with their partners and just accept that they do not understand how it works. I viewed it as a male sport before I saw that there are so many courses which seem to teach you whatever you need for sailing on your own. Before it looked to me as if you needed to have had a male upbringing in order to have the skills required.  This learning to sail at your own pace – what you are facilitating - is fantastic!  Annette

School Holiday Program Learn to Sail

Hi Jules, I just wanted to say that Solomon and Felix had a fantastic 2 days learning to sail and achieved far more than I could have imagined possible! Your instructors obviously made a big impression on them! So thank you so much for having them on the program. They would be very keen to do it again when they go down and stay with their grandparents in the April school holidays if it is available, so please keep me informed.  Thanks again, Anna

Kids Learn to Windsurf Course

Good morning Julie, I wanted to tell you how much Thomas enjoyed your Windsurfing course. I am not sure if it is something he would take up as a long term sport but he thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity, support and encouragement you gave him.

It was a pleasure for us to have him come to your club on a Wednesday evening as we always knew he would come home full of stories and with a real buzz about himself.  Your following emails with attached photos were fantastic. I would forward the photos on to his grandparents who both enjoyed looking at them each week. It’s those little touches that made your club stand out from the rest. On one Sunday when I took him down for some extra tuition, my other son and I were encouraged to ‘have a go’, so I did, it was lots of fun on the paddle board. Unfortunately my second son was not so enthusiastic and gave up before he began. However, the girl who was showing us what to do was pleasant and chatty and not in the least bothered that we were the only ones there.   

If he has the time and inclination to come back again in term 4 I certainly wouldn’t tell him no.  So thank you very much for looking after him in such a friendly and supportive group.  Best regards, Shelley Guest

Birthday Parties

Hi Julie,  The girls had an amazing couple of hours with Sam & Charlie – they all thoroughly enjoyed their experience out on the water today! Sam & Charlie really made it a fun time & all the girls will remember it for a long time.  I would recommend this idea to anyone who wants to try something fun & a little adventurous for their kids – bloody brilliant!!  Many thanks & regards Tracy

Thank you for all your kindness during the RYA coastal skipper course. It was my unforgettable great experience that I enjoyed yachting in Auckland by hopping islands and meet penguin, dolphins and sharks also. Although I didn't understand English sometime, you were always patient and kind by explaining with easy ways. If it is possible I want to visit NZ again. So long until then.  Shin

Dear Peter and Jules

Matakana Camp was awesome!  It was one of the best I've ever been to.  The activities were heaps of fun and I especially liked the biscuiting.  I'm sure year 8 enjoyed all the water based activities as most of the class was always laughing.  Sleeping in tents was pretty awesome. 

My favourite night activity was probably our first one when we went down to the beach and paddleboarded.

The Hangi tasted really good and I loved the potatoes.  It was fun preparing it and i hope i get the chance to do it again.

Overall the camp was great and I would love to come back to Matakana Island for another enjoyable week.  Id like to thank you very much for taking us, it was heaps of fun.  Samantha, St Kentigerns Girls

STCW Superyacht Student - RYA Powerboat & PWC Course

Hi Guys,  its Matt here i did the course with Peter in Auckland just wanted to let you know that i gotta job! I think the only reason i got the job was because i had done the course so wanted to thank you both very much for putting me threw.  Anyway my job is awesome i'm designated tender driver its a 10m rib with two 300hp supercharged mercurys on the back it does 70 knots and it does not fit on the boat so I chase them everywhere we go which is good because I am gathering a lot of miles.  Thanxs again.  Matt 

RYA Powerboat level 2 Course – Prize winners

My Son Darren won the silent auction prize at the Tauranga Yacht Club of an RYA Power Boat training course for two which was donated by Elements Watersports Centre.  Although I have Sailed many miles, it was a wake up call to experience navigation at over 20 knots at times in an open boat  not using GPS. It was great  having my son with me and we both learnt heaps and saw lots of our beautiful harbour  all in one day. Peter was excellent and taught us in an easy to understand way. I highly recommend this course to anybody who has, or is thinking of getting a power boat. Once you master the course you will receive an RYA certificate which is recognized worldwide and is sort after by those wanting to work on Super Yachts. Thanks to  Elements Watersports Centre for this great experience.  Norge & Darren Kennedy
